Friends of Mabureh Organization's NGO Registration Certificate
  • FRIENDS OF MABUREH IS WORKING TO RESTORE MABUREH COMMUNITY AND OTHER COMMUNITIES IN SIERRA LEONE AFTER 11 YEARS OF CIVIL WAR
  • FRIENDS OF MABUREH ORGANIZATION IS A REGISTERED NGO (NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION) IN SIERRA LEONE.

Achievements:

The organization had secured # 18 Circular Road building in Port Loko as head Office of Friends of Mabureh Sierra Leone Branch. This building is also the anticipated building for the computer instalment and will also serve as a guest house for visitors from abroad  

Friends of Mabureh board in Sierra Leone comprises of six individuals of which five have been designated positions

  • Maxwell Kargbo → Director
  • Anthony Mackotie Sesay → Associate Director
  • Abdulrahman Bangura → Treasurer
  • Ibrahim Sorie Bangura → Secretary
  • Victor B Kargbo → Public Relations Officer (PRO)
  • Jane B Kabia → Member

Current Needs:

  • Construction of a primary school building to accommodate the growing number of students
  • Construction of teachers quarters to attract trained and qualified teachers
  • Construction of guest house
  • Used vehicles in good condition needed. This will help the organization to become effective in Sierra Leone.

Below are organizations that has contributed towards our first year achievement  

 First Presbyterian Church Thunder Bay:

  • Mother Church to Friends of Mabureh.
  • Friends of Mabureh will be able to issue tax deductable receipts if you make your donation payable to First Presbyterian Church, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Attention Friends of Mabureh.

GCC/CCG Global Conscience Circle Thunder Bay:

  • Prof Thom had been the brain and connection to Friends of Mabureh Organization through GCC/CCG

Grassroots Church Thunder Bay:

  • This church’s young adults group was the first to donate money when Friends of Mabureh was launched in January 17th, 2009 

Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church New York:

  • This church sent a grant of $3000 to the organization last year that contributed immensely on the building project.
Bikes for Humanity Thunder Bay:
  • Will soon or in the near future send bikes for Friends of Mabureh Organization in Sierra Leone and has also contributed immensely towards the smooth run of the organization
Ogden School Thunder Bay:
  • Donated books and cash for the school in Mabureh
Fern Hill School Oakville:
  • Gabriela created the initiative of penpals. School children in Fern Hill School wrote letters to selected friends in Mabureh. She’s also planning on a fundraiser in the next few weeks

Port Arthur Rotary Club Thunder Bay:

  • Had endorsed the Mabureh building project and are planning on taking one aspect of the overall building proposals.

Nu Vision Thunder Bay
  • Ray Dunn and his team donated computers and  $1000 dollars towards the NGO registration cost in Sierra Leone.

Friends of Mabureh was founded January 17, 2009; and is locally based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Its aim is to raise funds to help the Mabureh Community and other communities in Sierra Leone get improved educational institutions for better learning.

The following developments are key issues that Friends of Mabureh would continue to address:       
  • Empower children through education to fight against poverty       
  • Create awareness of health related issues      
  • Provide safe and clean drinking water and  sanitation
  • Encourage international volunteers to visit Mabureh to share their expertise and friendship
